A Shreveport man is in federal custody after cops found a stash of guns in his house, just days after he harbored a fugitive shooter accused of a mass murder.
Michael Mayence, 54, is charged with illegally possessing firearms while under a domestic violence injunction. The order, issued in October 2024, prohibits him from owning guns.
On April 19, 2026, Shamar Elkins allegedly went on a shooting spree, killing several people. He fled to Mayence’s home in Bossier Parish, where cops executed a search warrant and found multiple firearms.
Mayence is facing up to 15 years in prison for the charge. The incident highlights the dangers of domestic violence and the need to deter illegal gun ownership.
