SIOUX FALLS – In a swift and decisive move, the federal bench has handed down a nearly three-year sentence to Adrian Fast Dog for his brazen defiance of sex offender registration laws. The 45-year-old Sioux Falls man now faces two years and nine months behind bars, followed by five years of stringent supervised release.
United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell broke the news on July 7, 2025, as U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange imposed the sentence. Fast Dog’s plight began unraveling in June 2024 when he was indicted for failing to register as a sex offender, a requirement that became his lifelong burden following a previous federal court conviction.
The guilty plea entered by Fast Dog on April 10, 2025, marked the culmination of an investigation led by the United States Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann M. Hoffman stood firm in her prosecution, ensuring justice was served for the crime committed between June 25, 2024, and February 13, 2025.
“Failure to comply with sex offender registration laws is not only a violation of federal law but also a direct threat to public safety,” said U.S. Attorney Ramsdell. “Today’s sentencing sends a clear message that such non-compliance will not be tolerated.”
This case was an integral part of Project Safe Childhood, the Department of Justice’s unwavering commitment to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Launched in 2006, this initiative leverages federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who prey on children.
