⏱ 3 min read

A brazen armed robbery at Z-Mart in Tallahassee, Florida, on January 31, 2026, ended with the suspect in custody. Laquinton Montral Harris, 36, allegedly stormed the store, firing a shot into the floor before making off with cash. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, dressed in black, entering the store and demanding money from an employee.

When the employee told him he had nothing immediately available, Harris fired a round into the floor. The employee then handed over the cash register drawer, and the suspect fled. Law enforcement launched a detailed investigation, which led them to Harris, a convicted felon with a prior record.

A search warrant was executed at Harris’ residence, where authorities found a firearm and clothing matching the items seen on the store surveillance footage. Harris appeared for arraignment in federal court, facing charges of Hobbs Act robbery, carrying, brandishing, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Convictions on these counts could land Harris up to 45 years in prison. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James A. McCain, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office leading the investigation.
