Tennessee Man Sentenced Up to Life for Exploiting Pa. Minor
A South Pittsburg, Tennessee resident has been sentenced to up to life in prison for the sexual exploitation of a minor from Western Pennsylvania.
Terron Slatton, 26, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti. The crime involved Slatton using the internet to induce a minor to produce a visual depiction of themselves engaging in sexual activity.
According to the court documents, Slatton discussed meeting the minor to have sex, and the exploitation occurred on December 24 and 25, 2022. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations-Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
Slatton’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 18, 2025. Under the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
The maximum sentence for Slatton includes up to life in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. This case highlights the growing concern of child sexual exploitation and abuse, and the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to bring offenders to justice.
Project Safe Childhood is a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.
