A 38-year-old Texas man, Michael Joseph Branham, has pleaded guilty to producing child sexual abuse material by secretly recording two minor children in his Florida condominium. The recordings took place between June and December 2024, in the condominium’s bathroom and bedroom, where Branham had installed hidden cameras. The victims, aged 11 and 13, were recorded while dressing, showering, and engaging in other private activities. Branham’s crimes were discovered on January 10, when he arrived at Port Everglades aboard a cruise ship from Turks and Caicos, and law enforcement searched his phone.
Further investigation revealed over 30 videos depicting the children, as well as additional images and videos of other minors involved in child sexual abuse material. Branham’s phone contained CSAM depicting minor children, which led to the discovery of his crimes. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of production of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, and one count of transportation of child pornography.
Branham faces up to 30 years in federal prison for each production count and 20 years in prison for each possession and transportation count. The case highlights the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat child sexual abuse material and protect vulnerable victims. U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones stated that Branham’s guilty plea is an important measure of accountability for these deeply disturbing crimes.
The investigation was led by law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, which worked to bring Branham to justice. The case serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and cooperation in combating child sexual abuse material and protecting children from exploitation.
