Plano Man Gets 21 Years in Child Porn Case
PLANO, Texas – A Plano man has been sentenced to federal prison for two counts of distributing child pornography, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei today.
Edgar Raymond Miller, 38, pleaded guilty on February 5, 2021, to distributing child pornography and was sentenced to 262 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan. Miller was found to have collected more than 47,000 images and videos of child pornography across multiple social media platforms.
The investigation began in April 2020, when a detective with the Plano Police Department received an investigative lead about a user on an Internet-based chat application who was uploading child pornography. The user was traced to Miller’s residence in Plano, where a search warrant was served in June 2020. Forensic analysis revealed chats in which Miller discussed the graphic and extreme abuse of children.
As part of his plea, Miller admitted to communicating with other individuals on the instant messaging mobile application about child pornography and the sexual abuse of children. Miller distributed images depicting male children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including depictions of sadistic or masochistic abuse. Miller admitted that he distributed and possessed more than 600 images of child pornography.
Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei urged members of the public to report any suspicious online activity to help prevent child abuse and exploitation. The FBI and local law enforcement agencies work together to apprehend individuals who distribute or attempt to distribute child pornography, as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The case was investigated by the Plano Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marisa Miller.
