Solar Scams Exposed: AG Ken Paxton Launches Major Initiative Against Texas Companies
In a major crackdown on deceptive business practices, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched an initiative to take down companies selling solar panel systems that have been engaging in widespread fraud and misrepresentation.
According to sources, multiple companies, including Freedom Forever, LLC, SunRun, Inc., Lone Star Solar Services LLC, and CAM Solar Inc., have been issued Civil Investigative Demands (CIDs) as part of the investigation. A staggering 100+ complaints have been filed against these companies, with thousands more reported online.
The companies are accused of violating the Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act, with investigators looking into allegations of false savings promises, misrepresented equipment quality, and misleading marketing materials.
As part of the CID process, the companies are required to disclose documents related to their business practices, including how they claim to track changes to consumers’ electricity bills, warranties, service plans, marketing materials, and contract information.
“Thousands of Texans have been targeted by these companies, and it’s time they’re held accountable for their actions,” said Attorney General Paxton. “This is just the beginning of our efforts to take down these scammers and protect the citizens of Texas.”
The move has been welcomed by consumer advocacy groups, who have long criticized the solar panel industry for its lack of transparency and aggressive sales tactics. With this initiative, the AG’s office is sending a clear message that it will not tolerate deceptive business practices in the Lone Star State.
As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen which companies will face the full force of the law. One thing is certain, however: Texans will be watching closely to see justice served in this high-stakes battle against corporate greed and deception.
