Tomas Camargo-Chavez, a 39-year-old man from Poteau, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for his role in methamphetamine distribution. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable James H. Payne, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee.
Camargo-Chavez, also known as Thomas Camargo, Scarface, was found guilty of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
According to court documents, Camargo-Chavez was involved in the distribution of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance, on or about September 26, 2013, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The investigation into Camargo-Chavez’s activities was conducted by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The defendant was indicted in January 2014 and pled guilty in May 2014.
Camargo-Chavez will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his nonparolable sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Waters represented the United States in the case.
