Travis Odale Henderson, a 39-year-old Baton Rouge resident, has been sentenced to 82 months in federal prison for his crimes. U.S. District Judge John W. deGravelles handed down the sentence following Henderson’s convictions for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to court records, on October 15, 2021, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to a citizen complaint involving Henderson. When they contacted Henderson and conducted a pat-down for officer safety, they discovered pills containing methamphetamine and a loaded .38 caliber revolver in his possession.
Henderson’s rap sheet includes previous convictions in Franklin Parish for distribution of cocaine in 2008 and distribution of methamphetamine in 2017. This new conviction is a result of his guilty plea, which involved admissions of his crimes.
The investigation into Henderson’s crimes was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory. The case was prosecuted by Lyman E. Thornton III, Assistant United States Attorney.
As part of his sentence, Henderson will serve three years of supervised release following his term of imprisonment, pay a $5,000 fine, and forfeit the firearm involved in his crimes.
