Wilmington, Delaware – A chilling case of child exploitation rocks the community as 31-year-old Tyler Ramaley pleaded guilty to distributing child sexual abuse material. This heinous crime has left many shaken and seeking justice for the innocent victims.
According to court statements, the investigation into Ramaley began in October 2024, when law enforcement received information about an individual seen on multiple online video calls with others watching, screen sharing, and masturbating to child sexual abuse material. The authorities successfully identified the individual as Ramaley, who also admitted to possessing the disturbing content on his devices and broadcasting it to others.
“Sharing explicit images of children being sexually abused is a heinous crime, and Tyler Ramaley’s actions are a tragic reminder of the persistence of individuals who prey on children,” stated Acting U.S. Attorney Dylan J. Steinberg. “My office remains committed to investigating and bringing to justice those who possess and distribute child sexual abuse material. We will continue to work alongside our federal, state, and local partners to protect children and hold offenders accountable.”
FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Amanda M. Koldjeski added, “Tyler Ramaley’s crimes are depraved and unconscionable. Viewing and sharing child sexual abuse material online continually victimizes the child. Ramaley thought he could hide behind a keyboard, but the FBI and our partners will work relentlessly to identify and hold accountable predators who exploit innocent children.”
The FBI led the investigation, with assistance from the New Castle County Police Department, Delaware State Police, and the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Claudia L. Pare prosecuted the case.
Ramaley is facing a maximum possible sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum term of 5 years. Judge Gregory B. Williams will determine the defendant’s sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of online safety and the need for vigilant reporting of such crimes. The community must come together to protect our children from exploitation and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
