A high-stakes meth game in Utah just got busted wide open. Juan Alexis Castanon-Chavez, 28, a previously removed Mexican national, was sentenced to five years in prison for possessing and distributing 17 pounds of methamphetamine.
The crime went down on March 2, 2025, when Castanon-Chavez sold 7,930 grams of meth to an undercover agent. He admitted to intending to sell the stash to others.
But that’s not all – Castanon-Chavez also confessed to sneaking back into the US after he was deported in 2020.
Agents from the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office and the Davis County Drug Task Force had Castanon-Chavez under the microscope for months.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Vernon G. Stejskal put the screws to Castanon-Chavez, securing a guilty plea that led to the stiff sentence.
Now, Castanon-Chavez is facing deportation proceedings and up to a year of supervised release after his prison stint.
