CAMDEN, N.J. – In a grim tally of drug enforcement success, Dominican Republic and Venezuelan dual citizen Jordge Luis Rodriguez Tejada, 38, has been sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Rodriguez Tejada’s sentence was imposed by U.S. Circuit Judge Stephanos Bibas in Camden federal court, following his guilty plea before former U.S. District Judge John Michael Vasquez.
The sentencing judge also ordered Rodriguez Tejada to serve three years of supervised release upon his release from prison.
Documents and statements in the case revealed that on July 5, 2022, law enforcement conducted a stop of a vehicle with Rodriguez Tejada as a front passenger. A canine unit alerted to the presence of illegal substances, leading to the recovery of approximately 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl and 900 grams of methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger praised the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for their work in this investigation, led by Special Agent in Charge Cheryl Ortiz. Assistant U.S. Attorney Farhana C. Melo represented the government in this case, which falls under the OCDETF/ Narcotics Unit.
Rodriguez Tejada’s sentence sends a powerful message against drug trafficking and the dangers of fentanyl and methamphetamine on our streets.
