SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Travis Davies, 47, of Vernal, Utah, will spend the next eight years and one month behind bars after being sentenced for flooding the Uintah Basin with fentanyl. Davies received 97 months’ imprisonment and three years’ supervised release following a guilty plea to possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, a charge stemming from a November 2024 raid.
The bust, executed at Davies’ Vernal residence, netted 296 blue fentanyl pills – roughly 33 grams of the potent opioid – along with a digital scale and a stash of small plastic baggies, all the tools of a seasoned drug dealer. Court documents paint a clear picture: Davies wasn’t a first-time offender, but a repeat distributor actively pushing poison into the community.
Federal investigators with the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office’s Vernal Resident Agency had Davies on their radar for some time. He was already out on pretrial release for other drug trafficking cases when this latest operation unfolded, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the law and a commitment to profiting from addiction.
