Fentanyl Trafficking Ring Crushed in Texas
PLANO, Texas – A brazen fentanyl trafficking ring has been dismantled in the heart of Texas, thanks to the tireless efforts of federal law enforcement agencies. Victor Manuel Navarette Roman, a 28-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to a whopping 18 years in federal prison for his role in importing and distributing deadly fentanyl and methamphetamine in the United States.
According to court documents, Roman was a high-level source of supply for illicit narcotics, specifically fentanyl and methamphetamine, which were smuggled into the country from Mexico. The investigation, led by the FBI, uncovered a stash of fentanyl and methamphetamine at Roman’s residence, along with an AR-15 pistol.
U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced the sentencing, which was meted out by U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan on February 26, 2026. Roman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, established by Executive Order 14159, which aims to eliminate criminal cartels, foreign gangs, and transnational criminal organizations operating in the United States and abroad. Through historic interagency collaboration, the HSTF directs the full might of U.S. law enforcement towards identifying, investigating, and prosecuting crimes committed by these organizations.
Roman’s sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of fentanyl trafficking on American communities. The synthetic opioid has claimed countless lives, leaving families shattered and communities in shambles.
