A 32-year-old Jefferson Davis County man has been handed down a harsh sentence for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking ring in southern Mississippi.
Waltario Womack, of Prentiss, was sentenced to serve 108 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Derryle Smith with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Womack was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.
The investigation revealed that Womack was a distributor of methamphetamine in the Jefferson Davis County area. On January 29, 2016, Womack sold approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine to a DEA confidential source for $1,600.
A few days later, Womack sold another 28 grams of methamphetamine to the same source for $1,000, according to authorities.
Womack pled guilty on December 6, 2018, to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shundral H. Cole.
Hurst and Smith emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable for their roles in the opioid epidemic.
