Bank Robberies Rock Fort Worth Community
A federal jury has found 57-year-old Waymon Scott McLaughlin guilty of bank robberies in Fort Worth, Texas. McLaughlin was convicted on four counts of bank robbery after a five-day trial before Senior U.S. District Judge Terry R. Means.
McLaughlin, a resident of Fort Worth, was found guilty of robbing the following locations:
The First Convenience Bank on May 6, 2016, located at 3510 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas.
The Woodforest Bank on May 20, 2016, located at 2225 W. 120, Grand Prairie, Texas.
The First Convenience Bank on May 27, 2016, located at 3510 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas.
The First Convenience Bank on May 27, 2016, located at 6756 W. Vickery Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas.
Each of the bank robbery counts carries a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. McLaughlin will remain in custody pending sentencing scheduled for August 8, 2017.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Grand Prairie Police Department, and the Fort Worth Police Department.
U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas announced the conviction.
McLaughlin’s guilty verdict is a significant blow to the community, and we hope that justice is served in this case.
