West Virginia Woman Guilty of Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice
A 58-year-old woman from Jamestown, New York, has been convicted of conspiring to obstruct justice in the Braxton and Marion County areas of West Virginia. Loretta Meredith, who is free on bond pending sentencing, faces up to 20 years in prison for her role in the conspiracy, which took place from January 28, 2013, to May 7, 2013.
As part of her plea agreement, Meredith will forfeit a Compaq laptop computer used to commit the offense of conviction. The case was prosecuted by Criminal Chief Shawn A. Morgan and investigated by the United States Marshals Service.
In a separate case, a 43-year-old man from Procious, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in Taylor County. Franklin Moore, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces up to 10 years in prison for the offense.
Moore’s case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Welsey and investigated by the Grafton Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
In another case, a 30-year-old inmate at the USP Hazelton has pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent exposure and was sentenced to 180 days imprisonment to run concurrently with his current 60-month sentence. DeAnthony Parker’s case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Flower and investigated by the Special Investigative Services Staff at USP Hazelton.
The convictions and sentencing were announced by United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II. Meredith’s sentencing is pending, while Moore and Parker are currently serving time in prison.
The cases were prosecuted by various members of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including Criminal Chief Shawn A. Morgan, Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Welsey, and Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Flower.
The cases were investigated by the United States Marshals Service, the Grafton Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Special Investigative Services Staff at USP Hazelton.
