WICHITA, KAN. – Myron L. Hite II, 43, of Wichita, is trading his home for a federal prison cell after being sentenced to 100 months for running meth in the city. The sentence, handed down today, is the result of a grim investigation into Hite’s drug dealing operation, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister.
Hite pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a charge that carries a hefty penalty. The bust went down when the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) executed a search warrant at Hite’s Wichita residence. What they found wasn’t just a small stash – agents recovered over half a pound of pure methamphetamine, enough to poison a significant number of users.
But the drugs weren’t the only evidence of a criminal enterprise. Authorities also discovered more than $14,000 in cold, hard cash – the dirty profits from peddling poison. As if that weren’t enough, two loaded firearms were recovered from the scene, suggesting Hite wasn’t afraid to use violence to protect his operation or his money.
The KBI didn’t just stumble upon this operation. This was a targeted investigation, and the results speak for themselves. Hite clearly thought he could operate with impunity, profiting off the misery of others. He was wrong. This case sends a clear message: if you deal drugs in Kansas, you will face federal justice.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mona Furst skillfully prosecuted the case, building a solid case based on the evidence collected by the KBI. McAllister specifically commended both the KBI agents and Furst for their dedication and professionalism in bringing Hite to justice. The streets of Wichita are a little safer tonight thanks to their work.
Hite’s 100-month sentence isn’t just about locking up a drug dealer; it’s about disrupting a criminal network and sending a strong deterrent message. The Grimy Times will continue to follow federal cases like this, shining a light on the dark corners of crime and holding perpetrators accountable.
