YBMG Gangster ‘White Mike’ Gets 35 Years for Murder-for-Hire Conspiracy
The last of seven defendants in a high-profile gang case has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for his role in a murder-for-hire conspiracy and other crimes. SHPENDIM HAXHAJ, 33, also known as ‘White Mike,’ was found guilty of murder for hire conspiracy, attempted murder in aid of racketeering, and narcotics conspiracy.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, HAXHAJ and other members of the Young Bronx Money Getters (YBMG) gang terrorized communities in the Bronx, Long Island, Upstate New York, and Connecticut with drugs, guns, and senseless violence for over a decade.
The YBMG gang was involved in narcotics trafficking, violence, including murder, and other crimes. Members of the gang sold heroin, cocaine, and marijuana, possessed firearms, and engaged in shootings as part of their gang membership and narcotics trafficking.
On August 16, 2019, HAXHAJ and another gang member hired a hitman to murder a rival gang member, resulting in the shooting and killing of Isael Lagares, a socializing with a group of people on a residential street in the Bronx. HAXHAJ previously pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla.
U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton praised the outstanding work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the New York City Police Department in bringing the case to justice. The case is being handled by the Office’s Violent and Organized Crime Unit and White Plains Division.
