Zachariah Kade McGuire, Threatening Voicemail and Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Oklahoma 2022

A threat of murder has shaken the community at the Ernest Childers Outpatient Clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On November 14, 2022, a man left a voicemail threatening to ‘murder people’ unless his demands were met, according to court documents.

The defendant, Zachariah Kade McGuire, 31, made the threatening call to schedule an appointment for himself at the clinic, which was set for December 13, 2022. After leaving the threatening message, McGuire showed up at the clinic later that day, armed with a loaded firearm and zip ties.

McGuire’s mother had initially called to schedule an appointment for him at the clinic. Shortly after, McGuire called back and left the threatening voicemail message, which was reported to the Veterans Affairs Police.

The firearm, a .357 magnum revolver, was loaded with six rounds of ammunition. Officers also recovered seven plastic zip ties from McGuire. He claimed during an interview with special agents that he didn’t remember making the call but admitted to bringing the firearm to the outpatient clinic.

McGuire is charged with possession of a firearm in a federal facility. He made an initial appearance in federal court on an unspecified date and is scheduled for preliminary and detention hearings on January 5, 2023, at 2 pm. The case will proceed in United States District Court in Tulsa.

The investigation involved the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, Department of Veterans Affairs Police, Tulsa Police Department, and FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert T. Raley is prosecuting the case.

Zachariah Kade McGuire, the defendant, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The matter will proceed to a Grand Jury, where the United States must present the charge within 30 days for the case to proceed to trial.
