⏱ 2 min read

A Juneau man, William Steadman, 35, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy and producing child pornography in Juneau, Alaska, between March and August 2024. Steadman manipulated and groomed the vulnerable minor, producing 43 images and 63 videos depicting the abuse, and posted some of these visuals on the dark web. Prior to this offense, Steadman was convicted of possessing child pornography in 2018 and was a registered sex offender.

Steadman’s arrest on September 6, 2024, was followed by his indictment by a federal grand jury roughly two weeks later. He pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography on March 31, 2025. The court also ordered Steadman to spend the rest of his life on supervised release once he completes his prison sentence, with restitution to be determined at a later date.

The court emphasized Steadman’s long track record of recidivism and the need to protect the public from him for a significant amount of time. Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva stated that the sentence holds Steadman accountable for his depraved and repeated sexual abuse and production of child pornography with a young child who had been entrusted to his care.

Steadman possessed over 3,300 images and 1,100 videos of child sexual abuse materials, representing thousands of additional minor victims. His dark web activities included bragging about his sexual abuse and manipulation of the minor victim on the platforms.
