Michael Luisi, a 53-year-old Meriden man, was involved in a large-scale narcotics trafficking operation in New Britain, Connecticut, in 2024. The FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force and New Britain Police Department investigated the organization, which was headed by Wilfredo Ortiz and operated out of Supreme Automotive, a car dealership on Main Street. Luisi had an ownership interest in the dealership and was involved in acquiring and distributing cocaine. The investigation led to the arrests of Luisi, Ortiz, and other members of the conspiracy on November 14, 2024.
The investigation included wiretaps, surveillance, and controlled purchases of narcotics, resulting in the seizure of over five kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, and seven firearms. A search of Luisi’s former residence in Berlin revealed evidence of narcotics distribution, guns, and $36,120 in cash. Luisi pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime on April 7, 2025.
Luisi was sentenced to 72 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release. Wilfredo Ortiz, the leader of the organization, was sentenced to 135 months in prison on March 9, 2026. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat narcotics trafficking in Connecticut.
The sentencing of Luisi and Ortiz marks the end of a major investigation into narcotics trafficking in the state. The case was handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut, with assistance from the FBI and local law enforcement agencies.
