A massive methamphetamine haul was seized in Madera, California, on March 4, 2025, when police raided the apartment of Jose Tobias Jimenez-Martinez, a 36-year-old Mexican national. Authorities found 86.5 pounds of 100% pure ‘ice’ methamphetamine, packaged in 90 plastic bags, and 4,700 counterfeit M30 pills laced with carfentanil, a synthetic opioid 100 times stronger than fentanyl.
Jimenez-Martinez admitted to transporting the methamphetamine from San Diego to Reno, Nevada, where it would be distributed. The massive seizure is a result of a joint investigation by local law enforcement and federal agencies, including the DEA.
Jimenez-Martinez faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, as well as a $10 million fine. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 27, 2026.
The case is part of ‘Operation Take Back America,’ a nationwide initiative to combat immigration and narcotics trafficking.
