Nine suspected drug dealers are set to face a bail hearing Friday after a massive raid in Northeast Philadelphia uncovered 30,000 to 40,000 bags of suspected heroin and fentanyl, along with three to four kilograms of unbagged narcotics worth an estimated $1.5 million. The Office of Attorney General is pushing to keep each defendant locked up on $1 million bail, citing extreme danger to the public and a serious risk of flight.
The defendants—Antonio Galan, 37; Yolarini Galan (a.k.a. Yolarini Galan De Marinez), 35; Jose Munoz, 42; Carlos Munoz (a.k.a. Carlos Enrique Munoz-Rondon), 24; Emillio Padilla (a.k.a. Ramon Emillio Padilla-Suarez), 24; Walky Pereira (a.k.a. Walky Pereyra De Castro), 31; Jose Manuel Robles-German, 23; Jancy Rosario (a.k.a. Jancy Rosario-Hernandez), 27; and Ariel Rondon (a.k.a. Ariel Rondon-Quezada), 32—are charged with possession with intent to deliver, criminal conspiracy, racketeering, and dealing in criminal proceeds. All nine were taken into custody during a raid on 1118 Rosalie Street in the Summerdale neighborhood on September 1.
Agents from the Office of Attorney General and Philadelphia police found the suspects trying to flee a drug-filled basement packed with narcotics in both bagged and powdered form. Officials say the seizure ranks among the largest in recent memory by the state AG’s office. The operation shut down the surrounding block for hours as hazmat and law enforcement teams worked to secure the scene and protect nearby residents from exposure.
Tragically, one state agent and four Philadelphia police officers were accidentally exposed to airborne drug powder inside the home. All five suffered physical reactions and were treated with Narcan on-site before recovering. Preliminary testing by the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the presence of both heroin and fentanyl, with further analysis still underway to determine exact compositions.
“This was poison that could have killed Pennsylvanians,” Attorney General Shapiro said, emphasizing the deadly impact of the operation. “We’re doing everything in our lawful power to keep these dangerous defendants behind bars until they stand trial.” Shapiro personally addressed neighbors in the Summerdale area the night of the raid, calling drug dealing a violent crime that endangers entire communities.
The bail hearing is scheduled for Friday at 12:00 p.m. in Courtroom 805 at the Criminal Justice Center before Common Pleas Judge Tracy Brandeis Roman. The AG’s office will argue for the current $1 million bail for each defendant to remain in place, stressing the severity of the charges and the threat these individuals pose if released. The Summerdale drug bust case continues to unfold as prosecutors prepare for trial.
