Lincoln Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking
Aaron Lee Kuntz, a 44-year-old resident of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of actual (pure) methamphetamine. This significant sentence was handed down by United States District Judge John M. Gerrard.
According to court records, Kuntz had a prior conviction for a serious drug felony in federal court. In January 2006, he was sentenced to 135 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine mixture.
The recent charges against Kuntz stemmed from a June 18, 2021, investigation by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force. Narcotics investigators were watching Kuntz’s residence when a car left the property, which was later stopped for a traffic violation. During the search of the vehicle, approximately 1 ¼ ounces of methamphetamine were found in the possession of one of the passengers.
Further investigation led to the discovery of at least 510 grams (approximately 18 ounces) of actual (pure) methamphetamine, plastic baggies, and scales at Kuntz’s residence. Kuntz claimed to investigators that he was selling small amounts of methamphetamine to support his own addiction.
Kuntz’s sentence also includes 10 years of supervised release following his release from prison. In the federal system, there is no parole available.
