Fentanyl Trafficking Hits Home in Omaha: 29-Year-Old Man Sentenced to 84 Months
In a recent crackdown on fentanyl trafficking, the city of Omaha has seen another individual brought to justice. Derrick Lloyd, a 29-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute 10 grams or more of fentanyl analogue.
According to official records, Lloyd’s conviction stems from an incident on July 20, 2021, when he was pulled over by the Omaha Police for going through a red light at 42nd Street and Fontenelle Boulevard.
After conducting a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a plastic bag containing 821 fentanyl pills hidden beneath the center console armrest.
Lloyd initially claimed that the pills were for personal use, but the discovery of such a large quantity has led to his subsequent conviction.
This case was thoroughly investigated by the Omaha Police Department, demonstrating their dedication to keeping the streets of Omaha safe from the scourge of fentanyl trafficking.
Following his release from prison, Lloyd will begin a 4-year term of supervised release. The federal system offers no parole, ensuring that those convicted of such crimes face the full weight of their punishment.
