A Norfolk man has been sentenced to 114 months’ imprisonment for possessing nearly five pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Butler County, Nebraska.
According to a federal court ruling on January 20, 2023, Torey Benson, 41, was found guilty of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
On November 27, 2021, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop against Benson, during which officers searched his vehicle and person, revealing just under five pounds of methamphetamine, five tabs of LSD, and three grams of marijuana.
Officers also discovered drug packaging materials, further solidifying the evidence against Benson. He admitted to receiving the methamphetamine and intending to sell it to others.
The case was investigated by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.
Torey Benson’s sentence includes 114 months’ imprisonment and four years of supervised release upon his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
This sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the severity of drug-related crimes and the consequences that come with them.
