Former Erie Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Receiving Child Pornography
Erie, PA – In a shocking case of child exploitation, a former resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for receiving tens of thousands of computer images and movies depicting prepubescent minors. Adam Gregory Ryzinski, 43, was convicted of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
According to information presented to the court, Ryzinski received and possessed computer images and movies depicting prepubescent minors, as young as infants and toddlers, being sexually abused. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines imposed the 10-year sentence on Ryzinski, to be followed by 10 years supervised release and ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution to two separate victims. Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Ryzinski.
The case highlights the growing concern of child sexual exploitation and abuse, and the need for continued efforts to combat this issue. Project Safe Childhood has been instrumental in identifying and rescuing victims, as well as prosecuting those responsible for these heinous crimes.
