Jose Jovany Cruz-Hernandez, a 41-year-old Honduran native, was caught reentering the US without permission in the Eastern District of Louisiana on March 16, 2026. This was not his first time – he had been removed from the US on five previous occasions, with the most recent removal being on June 1, 2015. Cruz-Hernandez was found by a US Border Patrol agent and subsequently pleaded guilty to illegal reentry of a removed alien.
Cruz-Hernandez’s guilty plea was entered in court, and he was sentenced by US District Judge Carl J. Barbier on July 30, 2026.
