Cedar Rapids Man Lands 15+ Years Behind Bars for Child Pornography
A Cedar Rapids man has been sentenced to over 15 years in prison after producing child pornography. Andrew Kyte, 53, received the lengthy prison term following a guilty plea on June 22, 2023.
According to evidence presented in court, Kyte sent gift cards to minors in exchange for sexually explicit videos from 2017 to 2019. He would also secretly record a minor through a hidden spy camera.
Kyte’s actions affected six minor victims, who were awarded restitution based on his criminal conduct. The total amount of restitution ordered is $24,000.
Kyte was sentenced by United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams to 240 months’ imprisonment. He must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after completing his prison term.
The case was prosecuted by former Assistant United States Attorney Elizabeth Dupuich and Assistant United States Attorney Matthew J. Cole, with the investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.
