Ron Wardlow, a 27-year-old Baltimore man, carjacked two victims at a Fells Point gas station on February 27, 2025. Wardlow, wearing a mask and gloves, asked the victims for a ride, but when they refused, he pulled out a 9mm Glock loaded with an extended magazine and demanded the car keys. The victims complied, and Wardlow drove off in their car.
The victims were able to track their digital devices, which were still in the car, and alerted the police to the car’s location. They found the car still running in the Liberty Heights neighborhood, but it drove away before they could apprehend Wardlow.
Wardlow was later convicted of carjacking, using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person. On April 2026, a jury found him guilty, and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, along with Special Agent in Charge Charles Doerrer of the ATF, Commissioner Richard Worley of the BPD, and Chief Robert McCullough of the BCPD. Wardlow’s previous conviction for robbery at the same gas station was also taken into account during the sentencing.
