Davon Taylor, a 35-year-old Baltimore man, was caught by law enforcement in a sting operation on April 9, 2025, in a Northwest Baltimore parking lot known as the ‘panyard’. Taylor was engaging in hand-to-hand drug transactions and was found to be in possession of a handgun and large quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, and cocaine base. The operation was part of a larger effort to combat violent crime in the area. Taylor’s actions were a clear violation of his federal supervised release.
Law enforcement agents used a surveillance camera to monitor Taylor’s activities, watching as he removed an object from his waistband and placed it inside a pizza box on top of a recycling bin. When they arrested Taylor, they found a loaded handgun with 12 rounds of live ammunition, which had been reported stolen in May 2022. They also discovered a bag containing numerous vials and jugs of fentanyl, cocaine, and cocaine base, as well as a digital scale with white residue on it and $1,549 in cash.
Taylor’s sentence of 97 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, was announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, along with Special Agent in Charge Charles Doerrer of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Commissioner Richard Worley of the Baltimore Police Department (BPD). The case is part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which aims to combat violent crime and make communities safer.
The successful prosecution of Taylor is a significant step forward in the fight against drug trafficking and violent crime in Baltimore.
