Rockford Man Charged in Methamphetamine Trafficking Ring

Rockford, IL – In a shocking turn of events, 33-year-old Bradley S. Goddard of Clinton, Iowa, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Rockford on federal drug and firearm charges.

According to the indictment, Goddard is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. The indictment states that Goddard possessed the drugs and firearm on September 8, 2021, in Fulton, IL.

The indictment alleges that Goddard possessed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. If convicted, the court must impose a reasonable sentence under federal sentencing statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

Goddard pleaded not guilty during arraignment in federal court. The charges are a serious blow to Goddard, who could face significant prison time if convicted.

The public is reminded that an indictment contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. Goddard is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation was led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from the Whiteside County, IL, Sheriff’s Office and the Morrison, IL, Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Vincenza L. Tomlinson is representing the government in the case.

Goddard’s next court appearance is pending. We will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
