Joao Silva, Gun and Fentanyl Trafficking, California 2022

⏱ 4 min read

A Brazilian national with a taste for the dark side of the American Dream has been brought to justice for peddling guns and fentanyl in the shadows of Eastern Massachusetts.

Talles Provette De Faria, 35, a fugitive from the law who didn’t even bother to hide his identity, met with an undercover informant in Home Depot parking lots and elsewhere to sell off his illicit wares.

It was a simple equation: cash for guns and dope. The exchanges happened twice in April and September 2024. On April 24, Provette De Faria sold two 9mm pistols and ammo for cold, hard cash at a Plymouth Home Depot lot. Three weeks later, on May 15, he sold fentanyl to the same undercover buyer at a Barnstable parking lot.

The deal was sealed when Provette De Faria sent pictures and videos to the informant, offering more guns for sale, even bragging about his ‘out-of-state source of supply.’ He thought it was all a game, but the authorities were watching. On September 19, 2024, just before his arrest, Provette De Faria sold off a stolen pistol, a rifle, and a loaded magazine to the informant in Plymouth.

Yesterday, U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley sentenced Provette De Faria to 32 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. And when he gets out, he’s out of here – deported.
