⏱ 2 min read

A Buffalo man is facing up to 15 years behind bars after being caught with a loaded gun during a traffic stop on the Route 33 Expressway. Earl Stone, 34, was arrested on April 12, 2026, after police detected alcohol on his breath and noticed the outline of a firearm in his pant leg.

According to court documents, Stone was driving on the expressway with passengers when police pulled him over. He refused to hand over his New York State Drivers’ License, and when officers asked him to step out of the vehicle, they noticed the firearm.

As Stone stood up, a .40 caliber handgun fell out of his pant leg, leading to his arrest. Stone has a history of crime, having been convicted of a felony in Erie County Court in December 2013, making him prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Stone made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and was held pending a detention hearing on April 21, 2026.
