TYLER, Texas – Shelby County’s own Danny L. Lindsey, a 39-year-old from Center, is facing a harsh federal sentence for his role in the meth trade.
Lindsey, who pleaded guilty on March 1, 2013, has been sentenced to 48 months behind bars by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis. The plea deal was for possession with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
The grim saga began at least as early as August 14, 2011, when Lindsey was caught with and distributing the highly addictive substance in East Texas. He faced a federal grand jury’s wrath on November 7, 2012, when he was indicted for drug trafficking violations.
But Lindsey’s troubles didn’t end there. During his drug activities, he also admitted to having two firearms, which are now set to be forfeited by the lawman.
This high-stakes case was a joint effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Panola County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin handled the prosecution with unyielding determination.
Now, Lindsey’s life is on hold for nearly four years as he serves out his sentence, a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who deal in the dangerous streets of Shelby County.
