Brian M. Turner, a 38-year-old man from Springfield, Missouri, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison without parole for distributing child pornography.

Turner pleaded guilty to receiving and distributing child pornography on September 14, 2020. He admitted to viewing child pornography for the past 10 years and explained that he received the images from others using Facebook Messenger.

According to investigators, Turner stored images of child pornography in his Google Photos account. A forensic examination of his cell phone revealed 236 images and one video of child pornography.

The investigation began in December 2018 when law enforcement received a Cybertipline report that Facebook had identified an image of possible child pornography sent by Turner via his Facebook Messenger account to another user in Australia.

On January 29, 2019, a law enforcement officer located Turner at a Springfield McDonald’s restaurant. Turner admitted to the officer that he had been viewing child pornography for the past decade.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stephanie Wan and Nhan D. Nguyen, and it was investigated by the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Springfield, Mo., Police Department.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
