Child Pornography Possession Lands Saint John Man 78 Months Behind Bars

HAMMOND – A 48-year-old man, Christopher Raciti, formerly of Saint John, Indiana, is facing the harsh reality of his crime. Raciti, a convicted child pornography offender, was sentenced to 78 months in prison for his crimes.

According to documents filed in the case, between November 7, 2015 and continuing through March 9, 2016, Raciti knowingly possessed more than 600 visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his computer. This is a shocking revelation that leaves many questioning how such a heinous crime went undetected for so long.

Raciti was charged by Information in January 2018 and immediately entered a plea of guilty to the charge. The case was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Toi Denise Houston, who worked closely with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to bring Raciti to justice.

U.S. Attorney Thomas L. Kirsch II announced Raciti’s sentencing, which also included 5 years of supervised release and an order to pay $15,000 in restitution, along with the forfeiture of electronic devices associated with his crime. This sentence sends a strong message that child pornography will not be tolerated in our society.

Raciti’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our children from such heinous crimes. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that those who perpetrate such crimes are held accountable for their actions.

The sentencing of Christopher Raciti is a victory for justice, and we hope it will serve as a deterrent to others who would engage in similar crimes. We must continue to work together to protect our children and keep our communities safe.
