Jacksonville, Florida – In a shocking case of online exploitation, Christopher Jaye Boykin (34, Lisman) has been indicted for receiving child pornography over the internet, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Boykin was arrested on March 14, 2017, at his home in Alabama, bringing an end to a months-long investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
If convicted, Boykin faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 5 years, up to 20 years, in federal prison on each of the four counts against him.
Boykin’s trial is scheduled for June 5, 2017, at the federal courthouse in Jacksonville.
An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
