Leondraie Antwarn Johnson, Cocaine Trafficking, Iowa 2024

A brazen cocaine dealer, Leondraie Antwarn Johnson, 36, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was caught red-handed with a stash of cocaine and marijuana after a high-speed chase with police. Johnson sped away in his car after a traffic stop on September 13, 2024, and tried to dump the evidence in a yard waste receptacle before being apprehended.

Johnson, a repeat offender with two previous felony controlled substance convictions, had intended to distribute the cocaine, he admitted in a guilty plea on December 29, 2025. The Cedar Rapids Police Department, with the help of a police dog, recovered the hidden bag containing the illicit substances.

Johnson was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison and will serve a six-year term of supervised release after his release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Assistant United States Attorney Adam J. Vander Stoep and the Cedar Rapids Police Department brought the case to justice, with Chief Judge C.J. Williams handing down the sentence.
