Anthony Pangallo, Child Exploitation, New York 2024

Convicted sex offender Anthony Pangallo has pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting children on Long Island. The 41-year-old, who was already a registered sex offender following a prior conviction for sexual assault of a minor, admitted in court to soliciting and receiving sexually explicit images from four young female victims. Pangallo faces up to 50 years in prison after the plea hearing before Judge Joanna Seybert.

United States Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. vowed to pursue sexual predators with relentless vigor, emphasizing that Pangallo’s actions were particularly heinous as he continued to target minors despite his prior offenses. FBI Assistant Director Christopher G. Raia echoed these sentiments, noting the defendant’s manipulation of young girls for his own perversion.

Pangallo was initially arrested in May 2021 on state charges involving a 15-year-old victim from Westport, Connecticut. Further investigation led to the identification of four additional victims from Long Island, including a 12-year-old and three 13-year-olds. The defendant used online communications to pretend he was a teenager, gaining trust before pressuring the girls into sending explicit content.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul G. Scotti is handling the prosecution for the Long Island Division’s Criminal Section.

Anthony Pangallo, Rego Park, Queens resident, now awaits sentencing in E.D.N.Y. Docket No. 23-CR-233 (S-1)(JS).
