Counterfeit Currency Kingpin Caught in Mobile County

A Mobile County man has been sentenced to 8 months incarceration followed by three years of supervised release for possession of counterfeit currency.

Ronald C. Howard, Jr, a 45-year-old resident of Theodore, Alabama, was found to be in possession of approximately $2000 worth of counterfeit currency and a laser jet printer used to manufacture the fake bills.

According to court records, on July 21, 2015, Mr. Howard pled guilty pursuant to a plea agreement, noting that he had attempted to pass counterfeit $20 bills in the area with a cohort.

As part of his plea, Mr. Howard agreed to and did forfeit the printer, which was deemed a facility of his illegal activity.

Special agents of the United States Secret Service investigated the case and presented it to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Assistant United States Attorney Gina S. Vann was assigned to the case.

Mr. Howard’s sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against counterfeiting.
