Boston – The grim saga of Wilter Rodrigues, a 39-year-old Boston-area gang member, took a dark turn as he was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the Cameron Street gang’s drug trafficking operations.
Rodrigues, who has been identified as a key player in the violent Cameron Street gang based in Dorchester, faced U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young on July 22, 2025, where he was handed a sentence of 60 months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release.
In a plea deal reached in July 2024, Rodrigues admitted to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base. His extensive criminal history includes a prior federal conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as two state court convictions for drug-distribution offenses.
The investigation into Rodrigues and his co-defendants revealed their distribution activities from an apartment in Somerville, where they allegedly peddled the illegal substances. The sentencing is part of a broad federal operation targeting the gang’s operations.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, along with law enforcement agencies including the ATF, DEA, Boston Police, and numerous local police departments, announced Rodrigues’ sentence today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Pohl and Charles Dell’Anno of the Criminal Division, who are part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative.
OCDETF’s multi-agency approach aims to disrupt and dismantle significant criminal organizations, with this operation being another example of their efforts. For more information on OCDETF, visit their website.
The remaining defendants in the indictment are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
