Wheelwright Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Child Pornography Distribution
A Wheelwright, Ky. man, David Glenn Boyd, 53, has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. He’s been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison, to be followed by a Life term of supervised release, for knowingly distributing child pornography.
Chief United States District Judge Karen K. Caldwell formally sentenced Boyd, who must serve 85 percent of his federal prison sentence. This harsh sentence is a testament to the severity of the crime and its devastating impact on victims.
Boyd previously admitted that, in August of 2016, he knowingly distributed images of child pornography over the Internet. A forensic examination of Boyd’s laptop computer revealed 42 still images and 35 videos of child pornography. The investigation was the result of a Cyber Tipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) conducted an investigation, which led them to obtain a search warrant for Boyd’s residence. During the execution of that search warrant the KSP seized Boyd’s computer and other electronic media. This diligent work by law enforcement agencies is crucial in bringing perpetrators to justice.
Robert M. Duncan, Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Amy Hess, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Rick Sanders, KSP Commissioner, jointly announced the sentence. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and KSP. The United States was represented by Assistant United States Attorney David Marye.
The sentencing of David Glenn Boyd serves as a warning to those who would engage in such heinous activities. Child pornography distribution is a serious crime that causes irreparable harm to its victims. Law enforcement agencies will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute those responsible.
The community can take comfort in knowing that those who commit such crimes will face severe consequences. The sentence handed down to David Glenn Boyd is a reflection of the seriousness with which the justice system views child pornography distribution.
