WASHINGTON D.C. – Charles Hilton, 40, of Washington D.C., will spend the next 25 years in federal prison after being sentenced for the horrific crimes of producing child pornography and sexually abusing a young girl. The sentence was handed down October 7, 2025, by U.S. District Court Judge Ana C. Reyes, bringing a grim conclusion to a case that exposed a dark underbelly of exploitation.
The case began to unravel November 21, 2024, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received three separate tips flagging a massive trove of child sex abuse material (CSAM). Investigators traced the files – exceeding 1,000 in number – to a server linked to accounts belonging to Hilton. A chilling detail emerged: approximately 20 of these files were homemade, indicating direct involvement in the creation of the abuse.
Law enforcement swiftly obtained arrest and search warrants, descending upon Hilton’s residence in Northeast D.C. on November 26, 2024. The search yielded a cache of digital devices, the contents of which painted a disturbing picture. Initially, Hilton attempted to deflect blame, claiming his accounts had been hacked. However, investigators quickly dismantled this facade, confronting him with a specific video depicting the sexual abuse of a minor victim – a video he ultimately admitted to creating.
The investigation didn’t stop there. A forensic examination of Hilton’s devices revealed a pattern of calculated coercion. Text messages unearthed from Hilton’s phone showed he had blackmailed the young victim, threatening to expose embarrassing information unless she engaged in sexual activity. This insidious manipulation culminated in the production of explicit photos and videos documenting the abuse.
Hilton pleaded guilty March 27, 2025, to one count of coercion and enticement of a child and one count of first-degree sexual abuse of a child with aggravating circumstances. In addition to the 25-year prison sentence, Judge Reyes ordered 15 years of supervised release and mandated Hilton register as a sex offender – a small measure of accountability for the irreparable harm he inflicted.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, alongside FBI Assistant Director in Charge Darren B. Cox and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela A. Smith, announced the sentencing. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Richard S. Kelley and Jocelyn Bond, and was brought as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative – a nationwide effort to combat online child exploitation.
