Maurice Felder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, District of Columbia 2024

Washington, D.C. – A brutal assault turned tragic on November 10, 2024, when Maurice Felder, 54, of Washington, D.C., was found guilty of assaulting a tourist with significant bodily injury while armed and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Felder, who faces up to 30 years in prison, was sentenced by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on October 15, 2025. The Honorable Todd Edelman set sentencing for December 12, 2025.

According to trial evidence, Felder followed a tourist group from Pennsylvania as they walked near the intersection of 7th St NW and T St NW. A verbal confrontation escalated when Felder threatened the victim with death and stabbed him in the chest, narrowly missing the heart. The victim survived but required immediate medical attention.

Felder was taken into custody just a block away from the scene, where he matched the description of the suspect provided by law enforcement. A knife was recovered from his possession. Since his arrest, Felder has been held in custody.

Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro in announcing the conviction. The case is a testament to the dedication of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Valerie Tsesarenko and Randle Wilson, who prosecuted the case with unwavering determination.
