A brazen shootout in Dunkirk, NY, left a police officer wounded and a suspect, Christopher Marcinkowski, 39, facing federal charges.

In February and March 2026, investigators with the DEA and Chautauqua County Narcotics Unit conducted garbage pulls at a Franklin Avenue residence associated with Marcinkowski, netting numerous plastic baggies with residue that tested positive for cocaine.

On March 24, 2026, the DEA and Chautauqua County Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the residence, but Marcinkowski opened fire with a firearm, striking one of the officers.

A tense standoff ensued, during which Marcinkowski, a three-time felon, confessed to shooting the officer. After several hours, he surrendered without further incident.

Police seized 197 grams of suspected psychedelic mushrooms, 11 pounds of marijuana, three firearms, $30,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia from the residence.

Christopher Marcinkowski will make an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy on April 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
