Michael Thomas Pritchard, a 49-year-old Erie, Pennsylvania resident, has been sentenced to 12.5 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. The sentencing occurred on July 23, 2026, after Pritchard was found with hundreds of digital images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. This crime was committed while Pritchard was on parole for a series of child exploitation convictions in Pennsylvania.

Pritchard’s sentencing is the result of a collaborative investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, Erie Police Department, and Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold.

The investigation and prosecution of Pritchard are part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
