Matthew Champ Henry Dick, a 32-year-old transient living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was busted twice for possessing firearms within a span of 35 days. In June 2025, Tulsa Police officers responding to a one-car accident found Dick trying to flee the scene, allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance. A search turned up a loaded handgun in his waistband and cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and other suspicious items in his vehicle. While out on bond, Dick cut off his monitoring device, prompting a state bench warrant. US Marshals tracked him down in August 2025 and found another loaded firearm on his person.
Dick’s history of crime didn’t help his case. Court records show multiple prior state convictions for being a felon unlawfully in possession of a firearm. This time, US District Judge William P. Johnson sentenced Dick to 96 months imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.
The investigation involved the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the US Marshal Service, and the Tulsa Police Department, with Assistant US Attorney Nathan E. Michel prosecuting the case. The sentencing is part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, aimed at combating violent crime and making communities safer.
Dick will remain in custody pending transfer to the US Bureau of Prisons. His case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to curb violent crime and the consequences of repeating offenses, especially those involving firearms.
