Felon Sentenced to 10 Years for Gun Possession

Gulfport, MS – A Gulfport man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm. Eric Jameson Graham, 39, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 120 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst and Special Agent in Charge Dana Nichols with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Graham was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine. His co-defendant, Erin Woods, was previously sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for being a user of controlled substances illegally possessing a firearm. Woods pled guilty in federal court to that crime on April 25, 2018.

The investigation into Graham’s crimes began on October 4, 2017, when an informant advised agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that Graham sold an SKS rifle to a known felon. The next day, Agents obtained a search warrant for the home Graham shared with Woods, where they found marijuana, methamphetamine, and 21 firearms. The firearms were stolen from Woods’ father, a collector.

Graham had a prior felony conviction for grand larceny and is prohibited from possessing any firearm. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams.

The maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison for Graham is a significant blow to those involved in the crime. ‘It’s a testament to the hard work of our law enforcement partners and the willingness of our prosecutors to hold accountable those who break the law,’ said U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives played a significant role in the investigation and prosecution of Graham’s crimes. ‘We are committed to keeping our communities safe from the scourge of gun violence and the illegal trafficking of firearms,’ said Special Agent in Charge Dana Nichols.
